San Antonio Express News REMADE

Hello,

This is Emily Bruckart reporting from San Antonio Texas, where life is in no slow mode for the Cohoon-Bruckart clan. Here are the latest headlines:

*Oldest Cohoon son (Chad) finds out second child is also a SON. Cohoon name continues to the next generation.

*Bruckart dad successfully endures first round of chemo. A new haircut shows him ready for battle against cancer.

*Baby due June 1st, still in the hopper. Amy waits anxiously for this stubborn youngster to make her debut.

*Youngest Cohoon sister to wed this Saturday.

*Youngest Bruckart (ME!) to leave for Philippines one week from today!

*New wing of the San Antonio Riverwalk opens. Strange art displayed along the walk, but a lovely stroll past flowers and waterfalls.

This has been lightning flash news. Until next time, this is Emily Bruckart. Back to you.

:)

Texas...I never thought I'd like you...

When I was in high school, I would talk with a few of my friends about how much they loved Texas and would never leave and how much I disliked it and would be leaving ASAP. Funny how you change your mind so quickly. Reasons for this change of heart...
* Texas has no negative degree weather...
* People in Texas ARE (in general) more friendly...
* Food portions are bigger...
* They know the importance of Dr. Pepper...
* They have REAL Tex-mex...
* The Alamo Cafe...
* You can drive faster...
* If there's traffic on the highway, there are usually backroads...
* You can wear flip-flops everyday except it's one ice-day...

I concede...Texas IS a good state. :)

A couple of fun pictures...Jesse came to Texas for a week over our spring break where he experience some of the above joys (notice the alamo cafe tortillas).

Enjoy your Saturday!!!

*Insert witty/symbolic/serious title here*

When it's too hard to come up with a title for your blog, maybe you shouldn't, but I am anyway :)

IT'S THURSDAY!!!
The day when I work my last early shift for the year 2008!
The day I check my school mailbox for the last time in the fall 2008 semester!
The day I am still not fully packed and leaving for TEXAS!!! WOOOOOO!!!!!
It's a good day :)

Every Christmas (for the past 2-3 years, ha) my roommate and two of our best friends (basically roommates) celebrate Christmas together. We hang stockings, which are gradually filled, set up our 2.5 foot Charlie Brown Tree, make hot chocolate and brownies and enjoy each others' company.

Merry Christmas, girls :)

O
n my walk to work this morning...

...the sky was a brilliant teal color. This cell-phone picture does not do it justice, by any means, but use your imagination :) It was beautiful.

Enjoy the day!

Another summer's day has come and gone away...

I never seemed to appreciate the summer as much before I knew the bitter cold of Chicago winters. I've savored every moment of light and warmth the sun has let down. But the pleasant parts of summer cannot last forever...so welcome the less pleasant aspects with the enjoyable ones and make the most of another day.

Tonight, I head for Texas (aka cowboy country). I'm so excited...I never thought I'd see the day when I'd be looking forward to crazy truck drivers, cowboy boots, belt buckles, huge beer cans, and humid weather. Sounds fabulous, doesn't it? Though these things are funny to see and very characteristic of the place...my excitement to goes home rests in seeing my family. I am reminded of the preciousness of a workable family situation. Such relationships should be treasured and not strained, pursued and not relinquished. Easily said--nearly impossible to do at times. Remember that it is God who reconciles people together and to Himself.

My life's soundtrack has been accommodated by Ruckus these last couple months. Great variety, free, music you like to listen to as long as you want just so long as you are connected to the internet. BRILLIANT! High recommendation for this program. My current playlist: Freedom Album by Michael W. Smith, (track) "The Giving"

My grandmother is seriously the most amazing woman that has and is now walking this earth. Noni has wisdom and a gift of praying that I will never understand. She wrote me a letter once with a beautiful quote in it. I don't have it in front of me, but even the gist of it seems appropriate for a day like this...

"This is the beginning of a new day. You can do with it as you will...make it a good day."

I'll find the quote and put it word for word soon. It is well worth it--causes us to consider the choices we make throughout the day and how they affect others also.

Blessings dear friends. Keep your eyes open for the moments that God reveals His goodness to you.
